Here are some of our recent fundraising initiatives:

Celebrity Server Knight:

For the second time in team history, on February 25, 2015, members of Team 781 were celebrity servers at the Kincardine Boston Pizza. Kinetic Knights worked alongside employees as hostesses, servers, expos and dishwashers. This was a very successful fundraiser, since the team raised over 10% of the profits made that night! Throughout the last year, there has been a receipt box by the cashier at the Boston Pizza. Anyone can put a receipt in the box and the team raises 10% of the total money spent.

Hometown Christmas:

On December 6, 2014, Team 781 joined forces with the Kincardine BIA (Business Improvement Area) to have a booth at the Annual Kincardine Hometown Christmas event. The downtown area is closed off and the streets are flooded with people of all ages. There was tons of shopping, sleigh rides, hot chocolate, candy and kettle corn. There was even a small petting zoo! The Kinetic Knights join the festivities with selling Christmas baking.

Chip Blitz:

Two weeks before Halloween, the Robotics team canvassed the town selling Halloween-size boxes of chips purchased from Sobeys. Small teams went door to door in different sections of town delivering chip boxes. A new aspect of the fundraiser, was that citizens could facebook message the team to pre-order boxes! The fundraiser was a great success! We would like to thank the town for being so supportive.

Yard & Bake Sale:

Every spring, 781 collections donations from team and community members to put on one of the largest yard sales in Kincardine.  Everything from clothing to holiday decorations to old tools are sold!  Along with these, we also have a bake sale.  Team members have fun baking cookies and cakes together to sell during the yard sale.  Our generous sponsor, the Lake Huron Learning Center, allows us to use their space for this event, giving us a prime location on the main street of town.

Crabby Joes:

Crabby Joes has been a great sponsor for our team.  The first time we worked with them was in 2012, where they allowed us to help serve at their restaurant to earn tip money.  We also had a 50/50 raffle during this event, giving away door prizes donated by various local businesses in Kincardine. That year’s robot was also on display, to the delight of many people.  The team members had a lot of fun interacting with the community.

Crabby Joes has also given us appetizer cards as a way to fundraise year round.  Appetizer cards are are sold for $10 and give users free appetizers with the purchase of a meal. Crabby Joes gives us the cards for free and allow us to keep all of the profits.

Additionally, Crabby Joes has set up a give back program with our team.  Whenever the back of a receipt is signed with “Team 781” or “Kinetic Knights” and put into our designated bin at the restaurant, we receive 10% of the receipt total.

Penny War:

As a way to get the school involved in our fundraising, the Robotics team held a penny war last spring. This fun and creative competition put each grade up against each other to see who could earn the most points, with a penny being one point, and every other form of money negative points of their value. The school took on this challenge, with the grade tens reigning victorious and earning free cupcakes at lunch. This turned out to be a very successful fundraiser.

Pizza Cards:

Every year, New Orleans generously offers to help us along by lending us a large amount of pizza cards. Every team member is given a certain amount of pizza cards to sell to friends and family as a way to fundraise for the team. It is a great way for the community to save a few dollars and support both New Orleans and our team. The Kinetic Knights would like to thank New Orleans Pizza for being so encouraging and supportive of our program!
